From rubber boots to high heels: Jessica Stam spent her childhood as only girl among six brothers on a Canadian farm, far away from the glamorous fashion world. Only when a model scout discovered her at the age of 15, her fashion career began: Jessica was signed by a model agency and gathered first shooting experiences. Shortly afterwards she owed her breakthrough to photographer Steven Meisel who took her picture for two Italian Vogue covers and made her his personal muse.
Since then Jessica has collaborated with the creme de la creme of the international fashion scene: labels like Miu Miu, Bulgari, Emporio Armani and Dior booked her for fashion campaigns and she starred in fashion series of renowned magazines like W Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. Furthermore, Jessica turned into a popular it girl – designer Marc Jacobs even dedicated a handbag to her, the famous “Stam Bag”. Privately the Canadian beauty still is the easy-going country girl: she prefers wearing t-shirt and jeans while walking the streets of her new home New York.
