The SL* has continuously reinterpreted cultivated sportiness since first hitting the road in 1954 – while at the same time always maintaining its timeless style. With its wide rear end and elongated hood, the latest model of the exclusive roadster once again remains true to the proportions of its predecessors. And its distinctive radiator grill is an unmistakable reference to the SL-Class’s long-term sports car history.
Back in the present, the SL R231 sets new standards with its groundbreaking innovations: The highly rigid body shell made completely of aluminum not only offers an unequally dynamic ride, but also significantly reduced fuel consumption. In conjunction with its improved aerodynamics, the SL keeps the promise which has been behind its abbreviation for over 60 years: “Sport Light.”
And as if that wasn’t enough, the Mercedes-Benz SL boasts two world premieres – the one-of-a-kind FrontBass System uses the footwell as a resonant space, creating concert hall atmosphere and perfect acoustics at all times, even when the top is down. And the innovative MAGIC VISION CONTROL concept guarantees a perfect view at all times by spraying just the right amount of water needed directly out of the wipers onto the windshield, ideally adapted for the wiping direction.
